Stan Cahill - Co-Founder

Stan Cahill's background includes over 20 years of experience in business development, marketing and financial management. Before Co-Founding HEWAC, Mr. Cahill held positions with a wide range of responsibilities for the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) Adult Learning Service, which specialized in higher education, new media and distance learning.

Mr. Cahill was one of the principle architects of a business plan that established the largest nationwide telecommunications-based distance learning service for higher education. As a result, Colleges and Universities that use PBS's higher education services now generate over $100 million a year in tuition value. He also created and was a key team member that implemented the PBS Adult Learning Satellite Service, a membership organization for colleges and universities; with over 700 members. While working at PBS ALSS, it became the most profitable area of PBS Education.

Mr. Cahill also invented and was a key team member that implemented The Business Channel later spun off commercially for a $22.5 million return to PBS.

He was also played a key role in the success of other initiatives including:

  • A partnership with AOL, establishing a long-term anchor tenancy on AOL Research & Learn website/channel.
  • Negotiation and ongoing administration for over 100 college-credit telecourses and online courses.
  • A ten-year distribution deal securing for PBS Education a portfolio of 13 online business courses; profit potential in excess of $10 million.
  • Numerous affinity marketing partnerships on a national scale that secured discounted products and services for member organizations and revenue for
  • PBS, including satellite equipment, media products, computer hardware and network services, and educational content and assessment services.
  • Key team member that successfully secured federal funding for multiple projects: Department of Labor and Education to create an online "Lifelong Learning Portfolio" for distance learners; Department of Labor to create an online "Career Management Account"; Department of Education to create four graduate level Webmaster Certificate programs.
Mr. Cahill also holds a B.A. degree from the University of Rochester, N.Y.
